Welcome to Lumina Nocturna

Lumina Nocturna is a city veiled in both darkness and light, where systemic oppression paints a stark picture. Poverty intertwines with food insecurity, unrest simmers beneath the surface, and harsh police forces enforce laws disproportionately affecting the marginalized. Anti-trans policies and legislation create barriers, wealth inequality looms large, and gentrification displaces rooted communities. Racism, homelessness, social segregation, and higher living costs without wage increases add to the city's struggles.

Yet, amidst this darkness, there are beacons of hope. Churches in Lumina Nocturna stand as sanctuaries and battlegrounds. Some engage with the oppressed in their struggle for liberation, while others protect the status quo, preaching conformity and deepening divides.

In Libera(c)tion, you play as a Liberation Theologian—either Pastoral or Popular—addressing systemic inequity within Lumina Nocturna.

Pastoral Liberation Theologian:

A Pastoral Liberation Theologian embodies spiritual leadership, community engagement, and social justice advocacy within a local church. They create inclusive spaces, addressing both individual spiritual needs and systemic injustices. Through scenario-based journaling prompts, they reflect on personal experiences of injustice, the challenges of advocating for social change, and the tensions between traditional teachings and liberation theology.

Popular Liberation Theologian:

A Popular Liberation Theologian represents the broader community's voice in the struggle for liberation and social justice. Without formal theological training, they facilitate dialogue, reflection, and action within their community. Scenario-based journaling prompts encourage personal narratives and community dynamics, highlighting challenges faced by marginalized groups and the resilience of communities in resisting oppression.

Join the Struggle

Welcome to Lumina Nocturna, a city in need of all the help it can get. Embrace the role of a Liberation Theologian and become part of the journey towards collective liberation.
